NCTech4Good's 4th Annual Conference
June 6-7 in Chapel Hill

The 4th annual NCTech4Good Conference, “Where tech meets social change,” will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013, at The William & Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education in Chapel Hill.

It will be preceded by an all-day workshop on Thursday, June 6, featuring social technologies facilitator Amy Sample Ward (see brief bio below).

Registration, session proposal submissions, and sponsor submissions start January 14, 2013, at www.nctech4good.org.

This conference is designed to serve nonprofit professionals, volunteers and consultants, as well as small business owners. The conference focuses on technologies in areas such as fundraising, social media, and communication and advocacy tools, offering both pre-selected presentations and workshops, and spontaneous sessions.

Credits toward a Duke Certificate in Nonprofit Management may be obtained for attending the conference and/or the workshop, for additional fees.

Workshop: The pre-conference workshop, “Using Multichannel Strategies to Spark Advocacy, Raise Money, and Engage your Community,” will be on Thursday, June 6, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Friday Center, and will include a buffet luncheon. The cost of the workshop is $75 through May 31; after that date, the cost is $125. A free copy of Amy Sample Ward’s new book, Social Change Anytime Everywhere: How to Implement Online Multichannel Strategies to Spark Advocacy, Raise Money, and Engage your Community, will be available to attendees.

Evening social: There will be a social and networking event at The Aloft, near the Friday Center, on Thursday, June 6, from 6 to 10 p.m. for folks participating in the workshop or conference, with free hors d’oeuvres and soft drinks, plus a cash bar for alcoholic beverages and other food.

Conference: The main conference begins Friday, June 7, with registration at 8 a.m. and includes morning and afternoon presentations, some selected by early online voting and some determined in the first session of the conference. Select sessions you want to attend before coming to the conference, but keep your mind open to last-minute offerings. The keynote address will be given by Amy Sample Ward. Also included are a buffet luncheon and a concluding wine & cheese reception at 5 p.m., during which a number of door prizes will be awarded. (Note: Sponsor representatives and conference organizers are exempt from prizes.) The cost of the conference is $75 through May 31; after that date, the cost is $125.

Here’s how conference sessions are determined:

- Submit proposals for presentations and workshops January 14 through February 28, 2013.

- Vote for sessions you would like to attend March 1 through March 15.

- The preselected portion of the program will be confirmed by April 1.

- Submit additional ideas for sessions and special interest gatherings until the day of the conference.

- During the opening session, pitch your session proposals, and then we’ll vote for additional sessions.

- During the keynote presentation, room assignments will be made for the additional sessions and the final display grid of session topics and room assignments will be prepared.
