NC Cervical Cancer Coalition Summit

About the Summit

The purpose of this summit is to establish a clear roadmap for future initiatives for cervical cancer prevention by coalition partners.  Cervical Cancer-Free NC (CCFNC) has prepared a report using statewide data systems and the most up-to-date research evidence, to identify cervical cancer burden, screening and vaccination in our state.  CCFNC has identified geographical areas of greatest need for targeted cervical cancer prevention efforts.  Through a survey of coalition partners, we have also identified key gaps and opportunities for concrete policy and practice changes to state and local health systems and programs targeting cervical cancer prevention.  It is our goal to use this report to catalyze stakeholder action on the recommendations outlined.  This summit is the platform to initiate this goal statewide.  CCFNC will also convene meetings in high-need regions of the state to mobilize coalition partners and community groups to strategic and sustainable action that is consistent with local public health missions and easily integrated into current work flows.

Summit participants will receive a copy of the full report at the event.  This summit is made possible by a generous grant from GlaxoSmithKline.

Participants

This summit is designed for participants who have an interest in cervical cancer prevention and treatment including: program managers, government decision-makers, local health department staff, health care providers, school health center liaisons, professional association representatives and community groups, particularly those serving minority women and teens.

About CCFNC

Cervical Cancer-Free NC (CCFNC) is a statewide initiative to end or substantially reduce cervical cancer in North Carolina.  Through collaboration with government and community partners, we aim to increase HPV vaccination rates among adolescents (aged 10-18 years) and increase cervical cancer screening among women (aged 25-70 years) who have not been screened in the past four years.
